    Scripture Reading:                                                                    Psalm 84

    1 How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord, God of hosts.

    2 My soul is longing and yearning, is yearning for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my soul ring out their joy to God, the living God.

    3 The sparrow herself finds a home and the swallow a nest for her brood;
    she lays her young by your altars,
    Lord of hosts, my king and my God.

    4 They are happy, who dwell in your house, for ever singing your praise.

    5 They are happy, whose strength is in you,
    in whose hearts are the roads to Zion.

    6 As they go through the Bitter Valley they make it a place of springs (the autumn rain covers it with blessings).

    7 They walk with ever growing strength,
    they will see the God of gods in Zion.

    8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer, give ear, O God of Jacob.

    9 Turn your eyes, O God, our shield, look on the face of your anointed.

    10 One day within your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere.
    The threshold of the house of God I prefer
    to the dwellings of the wicked.

    11 For the Lord God is a rampart, a shield;
    he will give us his favor and glory.
    The Lord will not refuse any good to those who walk without blame.

    12 Lord, God of hosts, happy the man who trusts in you!       (Grail Version)

    Declaring What We Believe

    The Nicene Creed

    We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

    And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,

    begotten from the Father before all ages,

    God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,

    begotten, not made; of the same essence as the Father.

    Through him all things were made.

    For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven;

    he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary,

    and was made man.

    He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate;

    he suffered and was buried.

    The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures.

    He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

    He will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead.

    His kingdom will never end.

    And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life.

    He proceeds from the Father and the Son,

    and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified.

    He spoke through the prophets.

    We believe in one holy universal and apostolic church.

    We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

    We look forward to the resurrection of the dead,

    and to life in the world to come.

    Amen.

    We Respond to God’s Presence

    Behold Our God

    Verse 1:           Who has held the oceans in His hands?

    Who has numbered every grain of sand?

    Kings and nations tremble at His voice

    All creation rises to rejoice

    Chorus:           Behold our God seated on His throne

    Come let us adore Him

    Behold our King nothing can compare

    Come let us adore Him!

    Verse 2:           Who has given counsel to the Lord?

    Who can question any of His Words?

    Who can teach the One who knows all things?

    Who can fathom all His wondrous deeds?

    Repeat Chorus

    Verse 3:           Who has felt the nails upon His hands

    Bearing all the guilt of sinful man?

    God eternal humbled to the grave

    Jesus, Savior risen now to reign!

    Repeat Chorus

    Bridge:

    Men:       You will reign forever!

    Women: Let Your glory fill the earth (to Chorus)

    Get On Board, Little Children

    The Gospel train’s a-comin,’—I hear it just at hand,

    I hear the car wheels rumb-lin’—An’ rollin’ thru the land.

    Get on board, little children, There’s room for many-a-more.

    Sermon Hymn:

    What God Ordains is Always Good

    What God ordains is always good; His will is just and holy.

    As He directs my life for me, I follow meek and lowly.

    My God indeed in every need Knows well how to shield me;

    To Him, then, I will yield me.

    What God ordains is always good. He never will deceive me;

    He leads me in His righteous way, And never will He leave me.

    I take content What He hath sent; His hand that sends me sadness

    Will turn my tears to gladness.

    What God ordains is always good. He is my Friend and Father;

    He will not let me suffer harm, Though many storms may gather.

    Now I may know Both joy and woe, Some day I shall see clearly

    That He has loved me dearly.

    What God ordains is always good. Though I the cup am drinking

    Which savors now of bitterness, I take it without shrinking.

    For after grief God grants relief, My heart with comfort filling

    And all my sorrow stilling.

    What God ordains is always good. This truth remains unshaken.

    Though sorrow, need, or death be mine, I shall not be forsaken.

    I fear no harm, For with His arm He shall embrace and shield me;

    So to my God I yield me.
