    Prayer of Invocation

    Declaring What We Believe:

    The Nicene Creed

    All:

    We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

    Men & Boys:

    And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,

    begotten from the Father before all ages,

    God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,

    begotten, not made; of the same essence as the Father.

    Women & Girls

    Through him all things were made.

    For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven;

    he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary,

    and was made man.

    Jubilee Singers

    He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate;

    he suffered and was buried.

    Women & Girls:

    The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures.

    He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

    Men & Boys:

    He will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead.

    His kingdom will never end.

    All:

    And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life.

    He proceeds from the Father and the Son,

    and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified.

    He spoke through the prophets.

    We believe in one holy universal and apostolic church.

    We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

    We look forward to the resurrection of the dead,

    and to life in the world to come.

    Amen.

    We Respond to God’s Presence

    Psalm 29

    (This is a psalm of praise of the power of God displayed in the storm. But the strength is of a hand as powerful to calm as it is to move – a strength man can trust.)

    Congregational Refrain:

    “Glory to God! Glory to God!”  Sing forever “Glory to God!”

    Solo voices:

    Verse 1:    All on earth and all in heaven, raise to God a song on high.

    Strength unmeasured, love unbounded, God alone we glorify.

    Congregational Refrain:

    “Glory to God! Glory to God!”  Sing forever “Glory to God!”

    Solo voices: (spoken)

    Verse 2:    The voice of the Lord resounds across the waters;

    the voice of the Lord thunders over the mighty sea.

    Verse 3:    The voice of the Lord is powerful;

    the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

    Verse 4:    The voice of the Lord breaks the cedar trees:

    the voice of the Lord splinters the trees of Lebanon.

    Verse 5:    The voice of the Lord strikes like lightning;

    the voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness.

    Verse 6:    The voice of the Lord causes the oaks to whirl;

    the voice of the Lord strips the forest bare.

    Congregational Refrain:

    “Glory to God! Glory to God!”  Sing forever “Glory to God!”

    Solo voices:

    Verse 7:    God of the waters, God of thunder,

    God’s own might can make them cease.

    God’s own voice which tumult beckons

    in a gentler breath speaks peace.

    Congregational Refrain:

    “Glory to God! Glory to God!”  Sing forever “Glory to God!”

  • Song of the Prophets

    Ancient Prophets

    In ages past the mighty Lord by prophets spoke the Word,

    And from their lips God’s great design throughout the earth was heard.

    In revelation, parable, bold fantasy, and dream,

    They echoed God’s eternal vow to ransom and redeem.

    Habakkuk

    O Lord, how long will you not hear your servant’s earnest plea?

    How many chains must I endure before you set me free?

    I cry, and still you turn away, my tears an empty wave.

    Yet I will keep my vow to praise, and you your vow to save.

    Prophets’ Promise

    Yet still in present, troubled days we seek to hear God’s voice

    And in the face of our distress, find reason to rejoice.

    Grant us the wisdom to discern through faith who we should be—

    A fallen race, restored through grace, a captive world set free

    O God, My Joy

    O God, my joy, You reign above in radiant splendor and beauty.

    Your word has drawn my heart to love the awesome sight of Your glory.

    Your blazing light and gospel grace

    shine brightly from my Savior’s face.

    No other wonder would I see than Christ enthroned in His glory!

    Sustained by joy in trial and pain, I trust Your wisdom and mercy.

    Through suffering that Your love ordains,

    more like Your Son You will make me.

    For Christ embraced the cross of shame,

    beholding glorious joys to come.

    O give me faith like His to see that suffering lifts me to glory!

    Compelled by joy, I fight the sin that turns my gaze from Your glory.

    Your Holy Spirit dwells within: His presence arms me for vict’ry.

    Let death and hell against me rise; through death I’ll gain eternal joys.

    All powers of hell will bend the knee before my great King of glory!
