Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence!
Men: Verse 1
Let all mortal flesh keep silence, And with fear and trembling stand;
Ponder nothing earthly minded, For with blessing in His hand,
Christ our God to earth descendeth, Our full homage to demand.Women: Verse 2
King of kings, yet born of Mary, As of old on earth He stood,
Lord of lords, in human vesture, In the body and the blood;
He will give to all the faithful His own self for heavenly food.All: Verse 3
Rank on rank the host of heaven, Spreads its vanguard on the way,
As the Light of light descendeth From the realms of endless day,
That the powers of hell may vanish As the darkness clears away.All: Verse 4
At His feet the six-winged seraph, Cherubim with sleepless eye,
Veil their faces to the presence, As with ceaseless voice they cry:
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Lord Most High!Call To Worship
Scripture Reading: Isaiah 6:1-8
1.In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple.
2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings:
with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet,
and with two he flew.3 And one called to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory!”4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”
6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar.
7 And he touched my mouth and said:
“Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away,
and your sin atoned for.”8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying,
“Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?”
Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”.Prayer of Invocation
Advent Proclamation
Leader: Today we light one candle to remind us of our need for
a savior. Come, Lord, restore us. Our world is in need of
Jesus the savior. Let your light shine on us, that we may
see our sin. Come and dwell with us, that we may be
washed clean and made new. Amen.
People: O Emmanuel, Jesus Christ,
Desire of every nation, Savior of all peoples,
Come and dwell among us.
Red Hymnal #169 “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel”
Declaring What We Believe
The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,
begotten from the Father before all ages,
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made; of the same essence as the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven;
he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary,
and was made man.
He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered and was buried.
The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures.
He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead.
His kingdom will never end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life.
He proceeds from the Father and the Son,
and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified.
He spoke through the prophets.
We believe in one holy universal and apostolic church.
We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look forward to the resurrection of the dead,
and to life in the world to come.
Amen.

We Respond to God’s Presence
Red Hymnal #171 “Joy to the World!”
Oh, Shout for Joy (The New Hundredth)
Oh, shout for joy unto the Lord, Worship Him with gladness.
Let all the earth bring songs of praise, Telling of His greatness,
Know that the Lord we praise is God; He is God our Maker,
And we are His, a people called, Sheep within His pasture.
Refrain:
Oh, enter in His gates with praise, His courts with great thanksgiving;
For He is good, His love endures Morning after morning.
Oh, shout for joy unto the Lord! See the way is open
To live in peace beneath His grace, Every sin forgiven
For He who knew no mark of sin Took our sin upon Him,
That we might be the righteousness Of the God of Heaven. (Refrain)
Oh, shout for joy unto the Lord Through the hours of darkness.
For day by day His faithful hand Ever stays upon us.
With every morning rise, we kneel; All our lives we offer
To be a living sacrifice, Wholly to the Saviour. (Refrain)

Sharing of the Elements
We invite to the Lord’s Table all those who are baptized disciples of Jesus Christ and are under the authority of Christ and His body, the Church. By eating the bread and drinking the wine with us as a visitor, you are acknowledging to the elders of this local church that you are in covenant with God and an active member of a congregation in which the gospel is faithfully confessed, taught, and believed. You also acknowledge that you are a sinner, without hope except in the sovereign mercy of God, and that you are trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. If you have any doubt about your participation, please speak to the elders before or after the service.
