    Psalm 51D                                                                  Blue Psalter, pg 328

    Have Mercy Upon Me, O God

    Have mercy upon me, O God,

    according to your loving kindness,

    according to your tender mercy.

    Blot out my transgressions

    and wash me thoroughly.

    O cleanse me from my sin.

    I hate my transgressions, O God,

    and I repent my sins before you.

    Against you only have I sinned

    and done what is evil

    within your sight, O God.

    Wash me and make me clean.

    For I have rebelled from my birth;

    My very bones have gone against you.

    O teach me all your truth in secret

    And purge me with hyssop;

    And then I shall be clean.

    O fill me with your joy.

    Create in me now a clean heart;

    Renew your Spirit in me wholly.

    O cast me not away to darkness

    And take not your Spirit

    from me, O Blessed One.

    O Lord, restore my soul.

    Open now my lips with praise

    And let my mouth show forth your greatness.

    Do not despise my broken spirit;

    Have mercy upon me,

    O God of hosts, I cry.

    Cleanse me and make me whole.

    Call To Worship

    Scripture Reading:                                                         Ephesians 4:1-7

    Unity in the Body of Christ

    1 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called,

    2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,

    3 eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

    4 There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—

    5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

    6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

    7 But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

    Prayer of Invocation

    Declaring What We Believe:

    By Faith

    Verse 1:     By faith we see the hand of God

    In the light of creation’s grand design

    In the lives of those who prove His faithfulness

    Who walk by faith and not by sight

    Verse 2:     By faith our fathers roamed the earth

    With the power of His promise in their hearts

    Of a holy city built by God's own hand

    A place where peace and justice reign

    Refrain:     We will stand as children of the promise

    We will fix our eyes on Him our soul’s reward

    Till the race is finished and the work is done

    We’ll walk by faith and not by sight

    Verse 3:     By faith the prophets saw a day

    When the longed-for Messiah would appear

    With the power to break the chains of sin and death

    And rise triumphant from the grave

    Verse 4:     By faith the church was called to go

    In the power of the Spirit to the lost

    To deliver captives and to preach good news

    In every corner of the earth

    Repeat Refrain

    Verse 5:     By faith this mountain shall be moved

    And the power of the gospel shall prevail

    For we know in Christ all things are possible

    For all who call upon His name

    Repeat Refrain

  • We Respond to God’s Presence

    Oh, Shout for Joy (The New Hundredth)

    Oh, shout for joy unto the Lord, Worship Him with gladness.

    Let all the earth bring songs of praise, Telling of His greatness,

    Know that the Lord we praise is God; He is God our Maker,

    And we are His, a people called, Sheep within His pasture.

    Refrain:

    Oh, enter in His gates with praise, His courts with great thanksgiving;

    For He is good, His love endures Morning after morning.

    Oh, shout for joy unto the Lord! See the way is open

    To live in peace beneath His grace, Every sin forgiven

    For He who knew no mark of sin Took our sin upon Him,

    That we might be the righteousness Of the God of Heaven. (Refrain)

    Oh, shout for joy unto the Lord Through the hours of darkness.

    For day by day His faithful hand Ever stays upon us.

    With every morning rise, we kneel; All our lives we offer

    To be a living sacrifice, Wholly to the Saviour. (Refrain)

    An Old Testament Song:

    Psalm 62B                                                                  Blue Psalter, pg 382

    My Soul Finds Rest in God Alone

    My soul finds rest in God alone, My Rock and my salvation,

    A fortress strong against my foes, And I will not be shaken.

    Though lips may bless and hearts may curse,

    And lies like arrows pierce me,

    I’ll fix my heart on righteousness; I’ll look to Him who hears me.

    Chorus:     O praise Him, hallelujah, My Delight and my Reward;

    Everlasting, never failing, My Redeemer, my God.

    Find rest, my soul, in God alone, Amid the world’s temptations;

    When evil seeks to take a hold, I’ll cling to my salvation.

    Though riches come and riches go, Don’t set your heart upon them;

    The fields of hope in which I sow, Are harvested in heaven.

    (Repeat Chorus)

    I’ll set my gaze on God alone, And trust in Him completely;

    With every day pour out my soul, And He will prove His mercy.

    Though life is but a fleeting breath, A sigh too brief to measure,

    My King has crushed the curse of death And I am His forever.

    (Repeat Chorus)

    In Christ Alone

    In Christ alone my hope is found,

    He is my light, my strength, my song.

    This Cornerstone, this solid ground

    Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.

    What heights of love, what depths of peace

    When fears are stilled, when strivings cease.

    My Comforter, my All in All,

    Here in the love of Christ I stand.

    In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,

    Fullness of God in helpless babe!

    This Gift of love and righteousness

    Scorned by the ones He came to save.

    Till on that cross as Jesus died

    The wrath of God was satisfied

    For every sin on Him was laid

    Here in the death of Christ I live.

    There in the ground His body lay

    Light of the world by darkness slain.

    Then bursting forth in glorious day

    Up from the grave He rose again.

    And as He stands in victory

    Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me.

    For I am His and He is mine,

    Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

    No guilt in life no fear in death.

    This is the power of Christ in me.

    From life’s first cry to final breath

    Jesus commands my destiny

    No power of Hell, no scheme of man

    Can ever pluck me from His hand.

    ‘Til He returns or calls me home

    Here in the power of Christ I stand.

    Sermon Hymn:

    Red Hymnal #370

    O God, Our Help in Ages Past

    1. Our God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come,

    Our shelter from the stormy blast, And our eternal home.

    1. Under the shadow of Thy throne Thy saints have dwelt secure;

    Sufficient is Thine arm alone, And our defense is sure.

    1. Before the hills in order stood, Or earth received her frame,

    From everlasting Thou art God, To endless years the same.

    1. A thousand ages in Thy sight Are like an evening gone;

    Short as the watch that ends the night Before the rising sun.

    1. Our God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come,

    Be Thou our guard while troubles last, And our eternal home.

    Red Hymnal #385

    Holy God, We Praise Thy Name

    1. Holy God, we praise Thy name; Lord of all, we bow before Thee!

    All on earth Thy scepter claim, all in Heaven above adore Thee;

    Infinite Thy vast domain, everlasting is Thy reign.

    1. Hark! the loud celestial hymn angel choirs above are raising,

    Cherubim and seraphim, in unceasing chorus praising;

    Fill the heavens with sweet accord: Holy, holy, holy, Lord.

    1. Holy Father, Holy Son, Holy Spirit, Three we name Thee;

    Though in essence only One, Undivided God we claim Thee;

    And adoring bend the knee, While we own the mystery.

    Benediction
