Psalm 143A Blue Psalter, pg 936
Hear My Prayer, O God
Hear my prayer, O God, and listen to my plea;
Faithful, righteous One, give ear and answer me.
Judge me not, I pray; no merit dare I claim;
Knowing my own faults, I trust in your just Name.
Hounded by a foe who crushed me to the ground,
I am like the dead or those in prison bound.
Hopeless, numbed by fear, I ponder all your care;
Thirsty as parched earth, I lift my hands in prayer.
Answer soon, O God; my spirit faints in me;
Do not hide your face, or I will cease to be.
When the morning dawns, make known your love anew;
Show me how to walk, for I will trust in you.
Keep me safe, O God, and help me learn your will;
Let your Spirit lead through level pathways still.
For your great Name’s sake, my griefs and fears dispel;
Free me from my foes, that I may serve you well.

Red Hymnal #394
Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart
Rejoice ye pure in heart; Rejoice, give thanks, and sing;
Your festive banner wave on high, The cross of Christ your King.
Rejoice, rejoice, Rejoice, give thanks and sing.
Go on through life’s long path, Still chanting as ye go;
From youth to age, by night and day, In gladness and in woe.
Rejoice, rejoice, Rejoice, give thanks and sing.
Then on, ye pure in heart! Rejoice, give thanks and sing!
Your glorious banner wave on high, The cross of Christ your King.
Rejoice, rejoice, Rejoice, give thanks and sing.
Words: Edward H. Plumptre; Music: Marion – Arthur H. Messiter

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 4:25-32
The New Life
25 Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.
26 Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,
27 and give no opportunity to the devil.
28 Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.
29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Declaring What We Believe in Thanksgiving:
Red Hymnal #396
A General Thanksgiving
Almighty God, Father of all mercies,
we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks
for all Your goodness and loving-kindness to us
and to all men.
We bless You for our creation, preservation,
and all the blessings of this life;
but above all for Your incomparable love
in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ;
for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory.
And, we pray, give us such an awareness of Your mercies,
that with truly thankful hearts
we may make known Your praise,
not only with our lips, but in our lives,
by giving up ourselves to Your service,
and by walking before You in holiness and righteousness all our days;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
to whom, with You and the Holy Spirit,
be all honor and glory throughout all ages.
Amen.
We Respond to God’s Presence

Praise the Lord, His glories show, Alleluia!

Angels ‘round His throne above, Alleluia!
All that see and share His love, Alleluia!
Earth to heaven and heaven to earth, Alleluia!
Tell His wonders, sing His worth, Alleluia!
Age to age and shore to shore, Alleluia!
Praise Him, praise Him evermore! Alleluia!
Praise the Lord, His mercies trace, Alleluia!
Praise His providence and grace, Alleluia!
All that He and man hath done, Alleluia!
All He sends us through His Son, Alleluia!

Revive Us Again
- We praise Thee, O God, for the Son of Thy love,
For Jesus who died and is now gone above.
Refrain: Hallelujah! Thine the glory. Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory. Revive us again.
- We praise Thee, O God, for thy Spirit of light,
Who has shown us our Savior and banished our night. Refrain.
- All glory and praise to the Lamb that was slain,
Who has taken our sins and has cleansed every stain. Refrain.
- Revive us again; fill each heart with Thy love;
May each soul be rekindled with fire from above. Refrain.

Old Testament Scripture Reading: Psalm 138
1 I give you thanks, OLord, with my whole heart;
before the gods I sing your praise;2 I bow down toward your holy temple
and give thanks to your name
for your steadfast love and your faithfulness,
for you have exalted above all things
your name and your word.3 On the day I called, you answered me;
my strength of soul you increased.4 All the kings of the earth shall give you thanks, O Lord,
for they have heard the words of your mouth,5 and they shall sing of the ways of the Lord,
for great is the glory of the Lord.6 For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly,
but the haughty he knows from afar.7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
you preserve my life;
you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies,
and your right hand delivers me.8 The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me;
your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.
Do not forsake the work of your hands.O Breath of God
- O breath of God, come fill this place;
Revive our hearts to know Your grace;
And from our slumber make us rise
That we may know the Risen Christ.
- O word of God, so clear and true,
Renew our minds to trust in You;
And give to us the bread of life
That we may know the Risen Christ.
- O love of God, so unrestrained,
Refresh our souls in Jesus’ name.
Let us reflect Your sacrifice
That we may know the Risen Christ.
- May God the Father, God the Son,
And God the Spirit make us one.
In holiness let us unite
That we may know the Risen Christ.

Sermon Hymn:
When Trials Come
- When trials come no longer fear
For in the pain our God draws near
To fire a faith worth more than gold
And there His faithfulness is told
And there His faithfulness is told
- Within the night I know Your peace
The breath of God brings strength to me
And new each morning mercy flows
As treasures of the darkness grow
As treasures of the darkness grow
- I turn to Wisdom not my own
For every battle You have known
My confidence will rest in You
Your love endures Your ways are good
Your love endures Your ways are good
- When I am weary with the cost
I see the triumph of the cross
So in its shadow I shall run
Till He completes the work begun
Till He completes the work begun
- One day all things will be made new
I’ll see the hope You called me to
And in your kingdom paved with gold
I’ll praise your faithfulness of old
I’ll praise your faithfulness of old

Your Hand, O God, Has Guided
- Your hand, O God, has guided Your church from age to age;
The tale of love is written for us on every page.
Our fathers knew Your goodness and we Your works record;
And each of these bear witness; One church, one faith, one Lord.
Refrain: One church, one faith, one Lord of life;
One Father, one Spirit, one Christ.
One church, one faith, one Lord of life;
One Heavenly King, Lord of all.
- Your mercy never fails us, or leaves Your work undone;
With Your right hand to help us, the victory shall be won.
And then, by all creation, Your Name shall be adored;
With earth and Heaven singing: One church, one faith, one Lord.
