    Gathering the Family Together

    Psalm 104 F                                                            Blue Psalter, pg. 664

    O Worship the King

    Verse 1—All:

O worship the King, all glorious above,

    O gratefully sing, His power and His love;

Our shield and defender, the Ancient of Days,

Pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise.

    Verse 2—All:

O tell of His might, O sing of His grace,

Whose robe is the light, whose canopy space,

His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,

And dark is His path on the wings of the storm.

    Verse 3—Men & Boys:

Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite?

    It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;

It streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,

And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.

    Verse 4—Women & Girls:

Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,

    In Thee do we trust, nor find Thee to fail;

Thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end,

Our maker, defender, redeemer, and friend.

    Verse 5—All:

    O measureless might, Unchangeable love,

Whom angels delight to worship above!

Your ransomed creation, with glory ablaze,

In true adoration shall sing to your praise.

    Call To Worship

    Scripture Reading:                                                2 Corinthians 9:6-15

6 The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.

9 As it is written, “He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.”

10 He who supplies seed to the Sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.

11 You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.

12 For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.

13 By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others,

14 while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you.

15 Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!

    We Respond to God’s Presence

    Song of the Prophets

    Ancient Prophets

In ages past the mighty Lord by prophets spoke the Word,

And from their lips God’s great design throughout the earth was heard.

In revelation, parable, bold fantasy, and dream,

They echoed God’s eternal vow to ransom and redeem.

    Ezekiel

The faithful bound in tyrants’ chains shall find their hopes fulfilled,

And stony hearts become true flesh as God’s love is revealed.

Dry bones will dance, and whirlwinds sing when joy supplants despair,

And every corner of the earth proclaims, the Lord is there.

    Zechariah

“Be strong!” God’s forceful voice commands.

“Your strength will set you free!

Advance through faith against the foe; I’ll bring you home to me.

Rejoice as slaves who went before did shout in days of old:

A humble king upon a colt will lead you to the fold”

    Prophets’ Promise

Yet still in present, troubled days we seek to hear God’s voice

And in the face of our distress, find reason to rejoice.

Grant us the wisdom to discern through faith who we should be—

A fallen race, restored through grace, a captive world set free

  • Still, My Soul, Be Still

Still, my soul, be still, and do not fear

Though winds of change may rage tomorrow

God is at your side; No longer dread

    The fires of unexpected sorrow

Refrain:    God, You are my God

And I will trust in You and not be shaken

    Lord of peace renew

    A steadfast spirit within me

    To rest in You alone

Still, my soul, be still; Do not be moved

By lesser lights and fleeting shadows

Hold onto His ways with shield of faith

    Against temptations flaming arrows

    Repeat Refrain

Still, my soul, be still; Do not forsake

The Truth you learned in the beginning

Wait upon the Lord and hope will rise

As stars appear when day is dimming

    Repeat Refrain

    Sermon Hymn:

    The Sailboat Song

    1. Lord, you came down to the seashore.

You were not seeking the rich or the wise.

You only wanted me to go with you.

Chorus:      O Lord, You looked deep in my spirit.

With a smile you whispered my name.

In the sand I am leaving my sail boat.

By your side I will find a new life.

    1. Lord, you know all my possessions.

In my sailboat there’s no gold or a sword.

There’re only fishnets and oars and labor.

    Repeat Chorus.

    1. Lord, my weak hands you’ve anointed,

Though torn and weary, to bring others to rest.

My heart I give you with love unceasing.

    Repeat Chorus.

    1. Lord, you’re still walking life’s beaches,

Calling disciples to be fishers of men.

Your blood-stained footprints lead to the Father.

    Repeat Chorus.

Text: spoken to Wayne West by South American cab driver and translated by Wayne West. Music: traditional Spanish melody.
