A Mighty Fortress Is Our God

A mighty fortress is our God, A bulwark never failing

Our helper He amid the flood Of mortal ills prevailing.

For still our ancient foe Doth seek to work us woe

His craft and power are great, And, armed with cruel hate,

On earth is not his equal.

Were not the right man on our side, The man of God’s own choosing.

Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He

The Spirit and the gifts are ours Through Him who with us sideth.

Let goods and kindred go, This mortal life also.

The body they may kill; God’s truth abideth still:

His kingdom is forever.

Call To Worship

Scripture Reading:                                                      Philippians 2:2-5

¹ Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,

² then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.

³ Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,

⁴ not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

⁵ In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.

⁵ Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,

⁶ who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,

⁷ but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

⁸ And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

⁹ Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,

¹⁰ so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

¹¹ and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

We Respond to God’s Presence

Come Praise and Glorify

Come praise and glorify our God, the Father of our Lord

In Christ He has in heav’nly realms His blessings on us poured

For pure and blameless in His sight He destined us to be

And now we’ve been adopted through His Son eternally

Refrain:       To the praise of Your glory

To the praise of Your mercy and grace

To the praise of Your glory

You are the God who saves

Come praise and glorify our God Who gives His grace in Christ

In Him our sins are washed away redeemed through sacrifice

In Him God has made known to us the myst’ry of His will

That Christ should be the head of all His purpose to fulfill     (Refrain)

Come praise and glorify our God for we’ve believed the Word

And through our faith we have a seal the Spirit of the Lord

The Spirit guarantees our hope until redemption’s done

Until we join in endless praise to God the Three in One        (Refrain)

Spirit of Heaven

1. Spirit of Heaven, flood over me,

forming Christ in all that I do.

Turn every sinful desire in me

into holy passion for You.

Let the Earth Resound

1. Let the earth resound with songs of praise

to the Father’s power and love;

For the One who set each star in place chose to set His heart on us.

To the One whose might gives victory, yet whose mercies never cease;

As the tapestry of history tells the story of His grace.

Chorus:

King Immortal Faithful God; Crowned with splendour, rich in love.

Let the heavens and the earth resound with songs of praise to You.

2. Let the earth be stilled before the sight of a Father’s sacrifice

That revealed the depths of love divine in the face of Jesus Christ.

Through a life of full obedience and a death in agony,

He removed the rebel’s punishment and He set the pris’ner free.
