    Scripture Reading:                                                                  Psalm 124

    1 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side
    --let Israel now say—

    2 if it had not been the LORD who was on our side,
    when our enemies attacked us,

    3 Then they would have swallowed us up alive,
    when their anger was kindled against us;

    4 Then the flood would have swept us away,
    the torrent would have gone over us;

    5 Then over us would have gone
    the raging waters.

    6 Blessed be the LORD,
    who has not given us as prey to their teeth.

    7 We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers;
    the snare is broken, and we have escaped.

    8 Our help is in the name of the LORD,
    who made heaven and earth.

    Prayer of Invocation

    Maker of heaven and earth,

    As you rescued Daniel from the lions,
    protect us from the evil that would consume us.

    As you saved Noah from the flood, keep us from drowning in trouble.

    You have freed us from the power of sin,

    blessed the work of our minds and hands,

    and given us eternal life—all through Jesus Christ.

    We praise and thank you, now and always. AMEN.

    Romans 8:38-39

    “Neither death nor life, nor angels, nor rulers,

    nor trials in the present, nor any trial to come;

    neither height nor depth, nor all of creation

    can ever separate us from the love of God

    poured out in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

    Fear Not

    “Fear not, for I am with you; Fear not, for I am with you;

    Fear not for I am with you,” says the Lord.

    “Fear not, for I am with you; Fear not, for I am with you;

    Fear not for I am with you,” says the Lord.

    “I have redeemed you, I have called you by name,

    Child, you are Mine. When you walk through the waters,

    I will be there, and through the flame  -

    You’ll not – (No Way!) – be drowned.

    You’ll not – (No Way!) – be burned,

    For I am with You.”                           Repeat

    Sharing of the Elements

    We invite to the Lord’s Table all those who are baptized disciples of Jesus Christ and are under the authority of Christ and His body, the Church. By eating the bread and drinking the wine with us as a visitor, you are acknowledging to the elders of this local church that you are in covenant with God and an active member of a congregation in which the gospel is faithfully confessed, taught, and believed. You also acknowledge that you are a sinner, without hope except in the sovereign mercy of God, and that you are trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. If you have any doubt about your participation, please speak to the elders before or after the service.
