    Christ, the Sure and Steady Anchor

    Verse 1

    Christ, the sure and steady anchor in the fury of the storm;

    When the winds of doubt blow through me

    and my sails have all been torn.

    In the suff’ring, in the sorrow, when my sinking hopes are few,

    I will hold fast to the anchor; it shall never be removed.

    Verse 2

    Christ, the sure and steady anchor while the tempest rages on;

    When temptation claims the battle and it seems the night has won.

    Deeper still then goes the anchor, though I justly stand accused;

    I will hold fast to the anchor; it shall never be removed.

    Verse 3

    Christ, the sure and steady anchor through the floods of unbelief;

    Hopeless, somehow, O my soul now lift your eyes to calvary.

    This my ballast of assurance, see His love forever proved;

    I will hold fast to the anchor; it shall never be removed.

    Verse 4

    Christ, the sure and steady anchor, as we face the wave of death;

    When these trials give way to glory and we draw our final breath.

    We will cross that great horizon, clouds behind and life secured;

    And the calm will be the better for the storms that we endured.

    Christ, the shore of our salvation, ever faithful, ever true;

    We will hold fast to the anchor; it shall never be removed.

    Call To Worship

    Scripture Reading:                                                             Isaiah 46:4-7

    4 Even to your old age and gray hairs
    I am he, I am he who will sustain you.

    I have made you and I will carry you;
    I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

    5 “With whom will you compare me or count me equal?
    To whom will you liken me that we may be compared?

    6 Some pour out gold from their bags
    and weigh out silver on the scales;

    they hire a goldsmith to make it into a god,
    and they bow down and worship it.

    7 They lift it to their shoulders and carry it;
    they set it up in its place, and there it stands.
    From that spot it cannot move.

    Even though someone cries out to it, it cannot answer;
    it cannot save them from their troubles.

    We Respond to God’s Presence

    O Church, Arise

    O Church, arise, and put your armor on;

    hear the call of Christ our Captain.

    For now the weak can say that they are strong

    in the strength that God has given.

    With a shield of faith and belt of Truth,

    we’ll stand against the devil’s lies;

    And army bold, whose battle cry is love,

    reaching out to those in darkness.

    Our call to war to love the captive soul,

    but to rage against the captor;

    And with the sword that makes the wounded whole,

    we will fight with faith and valor.

    When faced with trials on every side,

    we know the outcome is secure,

    And Christ will have the prize for which He died

    – an inheritance of nations.

    Come see the cross, where love and mercy meet,

    as the Son of God is stricken;

    Then see His foes lie crushed beneath His feet,

    for the Conqueror has risen!

    And as the stone is rolled away

    and Christ emerges from the grave,

    This victory march continues till the day

    every eye and heart shall see Him.

    So Spirit come, put strength in every stride,

    give grace for every hurdle,

    That we may run with faith to win the prize

    of a servant good and faithful.

    As saints of old still line the way,

    retelling triumphs of His grace,

    We hear their calls and hunger for the day

    when with Christ we stand in Glory.

    When Trials Come

    1. When trials come no longer fear

    For in the pain our God draws near

    To fire a faith worth more than gold

    And there His faithfulness is told

    And there His faithfulness is told

    1. Within the night I know Your peace

    The breath of God brings strength to me

    And new each morning mercy flows

    As treasures of the darkness grow

    As treasures of the darkness grow

    1. I turn to Wisdom not my own

    For every battle You have known

    My confidence will rest in You

    Your love endures Your ways are good

    Your love endures Your ways are good

    1. When I am weary with the cost

    I see the triumph of the cross

    So in its shadow I shall run

    Till He completes the work begun

    Till He completes the work begun

    1. One day all things will be made new

    I’ll see the hope You called me to

    And in your kingdom paved with gold

    I’ll praise your faithfulness of old

    I’ll praise your faithfulness of old
