    Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah

    (Version #2)

    1. Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah, Pilgrim through this barren land.

    I am weak, but Thou art mighty; hold me with Thy pow’rful hand:

    Bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more.

    Bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more.

    1. Open now the crystal fountain, whence the healing waters flow.

    Let the fiery, cloudy pillar lead me all my journey through:

    Strong Deliverer, be Thou still my strength and shield.

    Strong Deliverer, be Thou still my strength and shield.

    1. When I tread the verge of Jordan, bid my anxious fears subside.

    Bear me through the swelling current, land me safe on Canaan’s side:

    Songs of praises I will ever give to Thee.

    Songs of praises I will ever give to Thee.

    Text: William Williams. 1717-1791. st. 1. by Peter Williams. 1722-1796. Tune: ZION. Thomas Hastings. 1784-1872

    Call To Worship

    Scripture Reading:                                                                    Psalm 96

    Leader:              1 O sing to the LORD a new song;
    sing to the LORD, all the earth!

    Congregation:   2 Sing to the LORD, bless his name;
    tell of his salvation from day to day.

    Leader:              3 Declare his glory among the nations,
    his marvelous works among all the peoples!

    Congregation:   4 For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised;
    he is to be feared above all gods.

    Leader:              5 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,
    but the LORD made the heavens.

    Congregation:   6 Splendor and majesty are before him;
    strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

    Leader:               7 Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples,
    ascribe to the LORD glory and strength!

    Congregation:   8 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name;
    bring an offering and come into his courts!

    Leader:              9 Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness;
    tremble before him, all the earth!

    10 Say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!
    Yes, the world is established;
    it shall never be moved;
    He will judge the peoples with equity.”

    Congregation:   11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;
    let the sea roar, and all that fills it;

                               12 let the field exult, and everything in it!
    Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy

                               13 before the LORD, for he comes,
    for he comes to judge the earth.
    He will judge the world in righteousness,
    and the peoples in his faithfulness.

    Prayer of Invocation

    Declaring What We Believe

    The Nicene Creed

    All:

    We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

    Men & Boys:

    And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,

    begotten from the Father before all ages,

    God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,

    begotten, not made; of the same essence as the Father.

    Women & Girls

    Through him all things were made.

    For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven;

    he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary,

    and was made man.

    Jubilee Singers

    He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate;

    he suffered and was buried.

    Women & Girls:

    The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures.

    He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

    Men & Boys:

    He will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead.

    His kingdom will never end.

    All:

    And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life.

    He proceeds from the Father and the Son,

    and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified.

    He spoke through the prophets.

    We believe in one holy universal and apostolic church.

    We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

    We look forward to the resurrection of the dead,

    and to life in the world to come.

    Amen.

    We Respond to God’s Presence

    Great Is The Lord

    Great is the Lord, He is holy and just,

    By His power we trust in His love.

    Great is the Lord, He is faithful and true,

    By His mercy He proves He is love.

    Verse 1:

    Great is the Lord, and worthy of glory,

    Great is the Lord, and worthy of praise.

    Great is the Lord, now lift up Your voice, now lift up your voice:

    Great is the Lord! Great is the Lord!

    Verse 2:

    Great are You, Lord, and worthy of glory.

    Great are You, Lord, and worthy of praise.

    Great are You, Lord, I lift up my voice, I lift up my voice:

    Great are You, Lord! Great are You, Lord!

    He Will Hold Me Fast

    1    When I fear my faith will fail, Christ will hold me fast

    When the tempter would prevail, He will hold me fast

    I could never keep my hold Through life’s fearful path

    For my love is often cold, He must hold me fast

    Chorus:     He will hold me fast, He will hold me fast

    For my Savior loves me so, He will hold me fast

    2    Those He saves are His delight, Christ will hold me fast

    Precious in His holy sight, He will hold me fast

    He’ll not let my soul be lost, His promises shall last

    Bought by Him at such a cost, He will hold me fast

    Repeat Chorus

    3    For my life He bled and died, Christ will hold me fast

    Justice has been satisfied, He will hold me fast

    Raised with Him to endless life, He will hold me fast

    Till our faith is turned to sight, When he comes at last

    Repeat Chorus

    Sermon Hymn:

    Knowing You

    All I once held dear, built my life upon,

    All this world reveres, and wars to own,

    All I once thought gain I have counted loss,

    Spent and worthless now, Compared to this.

    Chorus:     Knowing You, Jesus, Knowing You,

    There is no greater thing.

    You’re my all, You’re the best,

    You’re my joy, my righteousness,

    And I love You, Lord.

    Now my heart’s desire, Is to know You more,

    To be found in You, And known as Yours.

    To possess by faith, What I could not earn,

    All surpassing gift of righteousness.            Repeat Chorus

    Oh, to know the power of Your risen life,

    And to know You in Your sufferings

    To become like You in Your death, my Lord,

    So with You to live and never die.              Repeat Chorus
