Red Hymnal #321 “Brethren, We Have Met to Worship”
Call To Worship
Scripture Reading: Revelation 4:5-11
5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, and rumblings and peals of thunder, and before the throne were burning seven torches of fire, which are the seven spirits of God, 6 and before the throne there was as it were a sea of glass, like crystal.
And around the throne, on each side of the throne, are four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind: 7 the first living creature like a lion, the second living creature like an ox, the third living creature with the face of a man, and the fourth living creature like an eagle in flight.
8 And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say,
“Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty,
who was and is and is to come!”
9 And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever.
They cast their crowns before the throne, saying, 11
“Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they existed and were created.”.

Declaring What We Believe
The Apostle’s Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord;
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the virgin Mary;
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
Was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell;
The third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
And sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From whence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
The holy universal church; The communion of saints;
The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body;
And the life everlasting. Amen.
We Respond to God’s Presence
Red Hymnal #351
At the Name of Jesus
All: At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow,
Every tongue confess Him King of glory now;
‘Tis the Father’s pleasure we should call Him Lord,
Who from the beginning was the mighty Word.
All: At His voice creation sprang at once to sight,
All the angel faces, all the hosts of light,
Thrones and dominations, stars upon their way,
All the heavenly orders in their great array.
Men & Boys:
Humbled for a season, to receive a name
From the lips of sinners, unto whom He came;
He is God the Savior, He is Christ the Lord,
F’ver to be worshiped, trusted and adored.
Women & Girls
In your hearts enthrone Him: There let Him subdue
All that is not holy, All that is not true;
Crown Him as your captain in temptation’s hour,
Let His will enfold you in its light and power.
All: Brothers, this Lord Jesus shall return again,
With His Father’s glory, with His angel train;
For all wreaths of empire meet upon His brow,
And our hearts confess Him King of glory now.

Christ Our Hope in Life and Death
What is our hope in life and death?
Christ alone, Christ alone.
What is our only confidence?
That our souls to Him belong.
Who holds our days within His hand?
What comes, apart from His command?
And what will keep us to the end?
The love of Christ, in which we stand.
Refrain: O sing hallelujah! Our hope springs eternal.
O sing hallelujah! Now and ever, we confess
Christ our hope in life and death.
What truth can calm the troubled soul?
God is good, God is good.
Where is His grace and goodness known?
In our great Redeemer’s blood.
Who holds our faith when fears arise?
Who stands above the stormy trial?
Who sends the waves that bring us nigh unto the shore?
The rock of Christ!
Refrain: O sing hallelujah! Our hope springs eternal.
O sing hallelujah! Now and ever, we confess
Christ our hope in life and death.
Unto the grave, what shall we sing?
“Christ, He lives; Christ, He lives!”
And what reward will heaven bring?
Everlasting life with Him.
There we will rise to meet the Lord,
Then sin and death will be destroyed,
And we will feast in endless joy,
When Christ is ours forevermore.
Refrain: O sing hallelujah! Our hope springs eternal.
O sing hallelujah! Now and ever, we confess
Christ our hope in life and death.
Now and ever, we confess
Christ our hope in life and death.

We Will Dance
Sing a song of celebration, lift up a shout of praise,
For the Bridegroom will come, the glorious One.
And O, we will look on His face. We’ll go to a much better place.
Dance with all your might, lift up your hands and clap for joy;
For the time’s drawing near when He will appear.
And O, we will stand by His side, A strong and pure, spotless bride.
Chorus: O we will dance on the streets that are golden,
The glorious bride and the great Son of Man.
Let every tongue and tribe and nation
Rejoice in the song of the Lamb.
Repeat Chorus.

Jesus Saves
Freedom’s calling, chains are falling, hope is dawning bright and true.
Day is breaking, night is quaking. God is making all things new.
Jesus saves.
- Hear the heart of heaven beating, “Jesus saves, Jesus saves,”
And the hush of mercy breathing, “Jesus saves, Jesus saves.”
Hear the host of angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King.”
And the sounding joy repeating, “Jesus saves.”
- See the humblest hearts adore Him. Jesus saves. Jesus saves.
And the wisest bow before Him. Jesus saves. Jesus saves.
See the sky alive with praise, melting darkness in its blaze.
There is light forevermore in “Jesus saves.”
- He will live, our sorrow sharing. Jesus saves. Jesus saves.
He will die our burden bearing. Jesus saves. Jesus saves.
“It is done!” will shout the cross, “Christ has paid redemptions’ cost!”
While the empty tomb’s declaring, “Jesus saves!”
Freedom’s calling, chains are falling, hope is dawning bright and true.
Day is breaking, night is quaking. God is making all things new. (Repeat)
Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
- Oh, to grace, how great a debtor, Jesus saves. Jesus saves.
Are the saints who shout together, Jesus saves. Jesus saves.
Rising up so vast and strong, lifting up salvation’s song.
The redeemed will sing forever, “Jesus saves!”
Rising up so vast and strong, lifting up salvation’s song.
The redeemed will sing forever, “Jesus saves!”

The Lord’s Prayer Song
Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, Hallowed be Thy name.
On earth as it is in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.
And give us this day our daily bread, Hallowed be Thy name.
Forgive us our trespasses, Hallowed be Thy name.
As we forgive those who trespass against us, Hallowed be Thy name.
And lead us not into temptation, Hallowed be Thy name.
But deliver us from all evil, Hallowed be Thy name.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Forever, and ever and ever and ever, Hallowed be Thy name.
A-----men. A-----men.

Sermon Hymn:
Lord, We Wait
- Lord, we wait for the day of Your appearing:
Lord, we wait for Your coming in the clouds.
Refrain: With a shout the trumpet will sound,
and the dead will be raised to life,
and we shall meet Him in the air.
- In that day, death is swallowed up in vict’ry;
In that day, sin and death shall be no more. (Refrain)
- Now in part - we see shadows of His glory;
Then in full - we shall see Him face to face! (Refrain)

“No More Sadness, No More Pain”
Revelation 21:1-6
Pastor J.E. Rose
Introduction: The Story of Human Misery
But Sam lay back, and stared with open mouth, and for a moment, between bewilderment and great joy, he could not answer. At last he gasped: ‘Gandalf! I thought you were dead! But then I thought I was dead myself. Is everything sad going to come untrue? What’s happened to the world?’ (Lord of the Rings, Book III)
Three Questions in Times of Suffering
What does the word “eschatology” mean and why does it matter?
Why does eschatology create so much conflict and division among Christians?
What does the Bible say about eschatology?
