    God of Grace and God of Glory

    Verse 1

    God of grace and God of glory, On Thy people pour Thy power.

    Crown Thine ancient church’s story, Bring her bud to glorious flower.

    Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,

    For the facing of this hour, For the facing of this hour.

    Verse 2

    Lo! the hosts of evil ’round us, Scorn Thy Christ, assail His ways.

    From the fears that long have bound us, Free our hearts to faith and praise.

    Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,

    For the living of these days, For the living of these days.

    Verse 3

    Cure Thy children’s warring madness, Bend our pride to Thy control.

    Shame our wanton selfish gladness, Rich in things and poor in soul.

    Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,

    Lest we miss Thy kingdom’s goal, Lest we miss Thy kingdom’s goal.

    Verse 4

    Set our feet on lofty places, Gird our lives that they may be,

    Armored with all Christ-like graces, In the fight to set men free.

    Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,

    That we fail not man nor Thee, That we fail not man nor Thee.

    Call To Worship

    Scripture Reading:                    Malachi 3:1-3; Zechariah 12:10; 13:1

    3:1 Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts.

    2 But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap.

    3 He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings in righteousness to the Lord.

    12:10 And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn

    13:1 On that day there shall be a fountain opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness.

    Prayer of Invocation

    Declaring What We Believe:

    We Believe

    (Apostles Creed)

    Refrain:   We believe in one true God; Father, Spirit, Son;

    One Church, one faith, one Lord of all—His Kingdom come.

    1. We believe in God the Father Almighty, Lord of Life;

    Creator of the Heavens, the earth, the sea, the sky;

    And we believe in Jesus, the only Son of God;

    Born of the virgin Mary; He lived as one of us.                   (Refrain)

    1. We believe that Jesus suffered, was beaten, crucified;

    He died and He was buried; entombed in darkest night.

    The third day rose victorious; ascended into Heaven;

    Will one day come to judge us, the living and the dead.      (Refrain)

    1. We believe in God the Spirit, One Church empowered by Him;

    Communion of God’s people; forgiveness of our sin.

    Our bodies resurrected to everlasting life;

    To worship, love and wonder before the throne of Christ.   (Refrain)

    We Respond to God’s Presence

    Father, We have Sinned

    1. Father, we have sinned in word, and deed, and thought;

    Through ignorance, through weakness, through deliberate fault.

    We’ve sinned against our neighbors and against You, Lord.

    Yet we are truly sorry, and we turn to You once more.

    1. Father of the nations, You who bless the poor—

    We’re servants of the endless want and strive for more.

    We’ve made our greed a virtue, while the children starve;

    Come change our joy to sorrow, till our lives reflect Your heart.

    Spirit of Heaven

    1. Spirit of Heaven, flood over me,

    forming Christ in all that I do.

    Turn every sinful desire in me

    into holy passion for You.

    Refrain:     O, Spirit of God, come down; Let mercy and grace abound.

    My passionate prayer shall be: Christ in me.

    1. Spirit of beauty and holiness,

    come refine with fire from above,

    Till I am cast in Your righteousness

    and I love the things that you love.                (Refrain)

    1. Breathe Your forgiveness when darkness falls

    and my heart is heavy with sin.

    Fill me with faith for the higher cause

    of the ceaseless praise of the King.                (Refrain)

    Refiner’s Fire

    Purify my heart, let me be as gold and precious silver.

    Purify my heart, let me be as gold, pure gold.
