Gathering the Family Together
Prelude Mikayla Steele & Rachel Wilson
I Will Delight In The Law of the Lord
I will delight in the law of the Lord,
I will meditate day and night.
Then, like a tree firmly planted,
I’ll be grounded in Your Word. Repeat
Blessed is the one who follows the way of the Lord;
Blessed is the one.

Call To Worship
Scripture Reading: II Peter 1:3-8
3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,
4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.
5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge,
6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness,
7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.
8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Prayer of Invocation
Red Hymnal #69
Standing on the Promises of God
- Standing on the promises of Christ, my King!
Thro’ eternal ages let His praises ring;
“Glory in the highest!” I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.
Refrain:
Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God, my Savior;
Standing, standing, I’m standing on the promises of God.
- Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail.
Standing on the promises of God. (Repeat Refrain)
- Standing on the promises of Christ, the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s Sword,
Standing on the promises of God. (Repeat Refrain)
- Standing on the promises, I cannot fall,
List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call,
Resting in my Savior as my All in All,
Standing on the promises of God. (Repeat Refrain)
Declaring What We Believe
The Apostle’s Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord;
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the virgin Mary;
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
Was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell;
The third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
And sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From whence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
The holy universal church; The communion of saints;
The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body;
And the life everlasting. Amen.
We Respond to God’s Presence
Behold Our God
Verse 1: Who has held the oceans in His hands?
Who has numbered every grain of sand?
Kings and nations tremble at His voice
All creation rises to rejoice
Chorus: Behold our God seated on His throne
Come let us adore Him
Behold our King nothing can compare
Come let us adore Him!
Verse 2: Who has given counsel to the Lord?
Who can question any of His Words?
Who can teach the One who knows all things?
Who can fathom all His wondrous deeds?
Repeat Chorus
Verse 3: Who has felt the nails upon His hands
Bearing all the guilt of sinful man?
God eternal humbled to the grave
Jesus, Savior risen now to reign!
Repeat Chorus
Bridge:
Men: You will reign forever!
Women: Let Your glory fill the earth (to Chorus)

God And God Alone
God and God alone created all these things we call our own,
From the mighty to the small, the glory in them all
Is God’s and God’s alone!
God and God alone reveals the truth of all we call unknown,
And all the best and worst of man won’t change the Master’s plan,
It’s God’s and God’s alone!
Chorus: God and God alone is fit to take the universe’s throne:
Let everything that lives reserve its truest praise -
For God - and God alone!
God and God alone will be the joy - of our eternal home,
He will be our one desire, our hearts will never tire
Of God and God alone!
Repeat Chorus

We Worship Through Hearing
Sermon Hymn:
Psalm 119:137-144 (Tsadi)
Grant me understanding, that I may live.
137 You are righteous, O LORD, *
and your judgments are right.
138 You have appointed your decrees in righteousness *
and in all faithfulness.
Grant me understanding, that I may live.
139 My zeal consumes me *
because my foes forget your words.
140 Your promise is well tried, *
and your servant loves it.
Grant me understanding, that I may live.
141 I am small and despised, *
yet I do not forget your precepts.
142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, *
and your law is the truth.
Refrain: Grant me understanding, that I may live.
143 Trouble and anguish have come upon me, *
but your commandments are my delight.
144 Your decrees are righteous forever; *
give me understanding that I may live.
Grant me understanding, that I may live.

Sharing of the Elements
We invite to the Lord’s Table all those who are baptized disciples of Jesus Christ and are under the authority of Christ and His body, the Church. By eating the bread and drinking the wine with us as a visitor, you are acknowledging to the elders of this local church that you are in covenant with God and an active member of a congregation in which the gospel is faithfully confessed, taught, and believed. You also acknowledge that you are a sinner, without hope except in the sovereign mercy of God, and that you are trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. If you have any doubt about your participation, please speak to the elders before or after the service.

Red Hymnal #345
Crown Him with Many Crowns
Crown Him with many crowns, the Lamb upon His throne:
Hark! How the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own!
Awake, my soul, and sing of Him who died for thee;
And hail Him as thy matchless King through all eternity.
Crown Him the Lord of love: Behold His hands and side,
Rich wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified;
No angel in the sky can fully bear that sight,
But downward bends His wondering eye at mysteries so bright.
Crown Him the Lord of love: Who triumphed o’er the grave,
Who rose victorious to the strife for those He came to save;
His glories now we sing, Who died and rose on high,
Who died eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die.
Crown Him the Lord of heaven: One with the Father known,
One with the Spirit through Him given from yonder glorious throne.
To Thee be endless praise, for Thou for us hast died;
Be Thou, O Lord, through endless days adored and magnified.
Crown Him the Lord of years: The potentate of time,
Creator of the rolling spheres, ineffably sublime.
All hail, Redeemer, hail! For Thou hast died for me;
Thy praise and glory shall not fail throughout eternity. Amen.
Lyrics: Matthew Bridges, Godfrey Thring. Music: DIADEMATA, George J. Elvey.
