    Reformation Hymn

    1. We will trust God’s Word alone, where His perfect will is known;

    Our traditions shift like sand while His Truth forever stands.

    We will live by faith alone, clothed in merit not our own;

    All we claim is Jesus Christ and His finished sacrifice.

    Chorus:        Glory be, glory be to God alone

    Through the church He redeemed and made His own;

    He has freed us, He will keep us till we’re safely home;

    Glory be, glory be to God alone!

    1. We are saved by grace alone, undeserved, yet freely shown;

    No accomplishment on earth can achieve the second birth.

    We will stand on Christ alone, the unyielding Cornerstone;

    Nations rage and devils roar, still He reigns forevermore!

    Chorus:        Glory be, glory be to God alone

    Through the church He redeemed and made His own;

    He has freed us, He will keep us till we’re safely home;

    Glory be, glory be to God alone!

    He has freed us, He will keep us till we’re safely home;

    Glory be, glory be to God alone!

    Call To Worship

    Scripture Reading:                                                            Proverbs 6:16-19

    16 There are six things that the Lord hates,
    seven that are an abomination to him:

    17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
    and hands that shed innocent blood,

    18 a heart that devises wicked plans,
    feet that make haste to run to evil,

    19 a false witness who breathes out lies,
    and one who sows discord among brothers.

    Prayer of Invocation

    Declaring What We Believe:

    The Nicene Creed

    We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

    And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,

    begotten from the Father before all ages,

    God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,

    begotten, not made; of the same essence as the Father.

    Through him all things were made.

    For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven;

    he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary,

    and was made man.

    He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate;

    he suffered and was buried.

    The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures.

    He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

    He will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead.

    His kingdom will never end.

    And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life.

    He proceeds from the Father and the Son,

    and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified.

    He spoke through the prophets.

    We believe in one holy universal and apostolic church.

    We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

    We look forward to the resurrection of the dead,

    and to life in the world to come. Amen.

    We Respond to God’s Presence

    The Perfect Wisdom of Our God

    1    The perfect wisdom of our God, Revealed in all the universe:

    All things created by His hand, And held together at His command.

    He knows the mysteries of the seas, The secrets of the stars are His;

    He guides the planets on their way,

    And turns the earth through another day.

    1. The matchless wisdom of His ways,

    That mark the path of righteousness;

    His word a lamp unto my feet, His Spirit teaching and guiding me.

    And oh, the mystery of the cross, That God should suffer for the lost

    So that the fool might shame the wise,

    And all the glory might go to Christ!

    1. Oh grant me wisdom from above,

    To pray for peace and cling to love,

    And teach me humbly to receive

    The sun and rain of Your sovereignty.

    Each strand of sorrow has a place Within this tapestry of grace;

    So through the trials I choose to say:

    “Your perfect will in your perfect way.”

    Christ Our Wisdom

    Verse 1

    Christ our wisdom, we are humbled when You hide Your ways from us.

    You have purposes un-numbered, each one good and glorious.

    Help us trust when we grow weary, free us from our anxious thoughts.

    Give us grace to see more clearly. You are God, and we are not.

    Verse 2

    Christ our wisdom, be our gladness when we fail to understand.

    You ordain all joy and sadness to fulfill Your perfect plan.

    Help us know You rule with power over every raging flood.

    In our most certain hour, You are God, and we are loved.

    Verse 3

    Christ our wisdom, we will follow though the way ahead is veiled.

    As we journey through the shadows, grant us faith where sight has failed.

    Help us cling to Your commandments,

    strengthened by Your faithful Word.

    We will never be abandoned. You are God, and we are Yours.

    Verse 4

    Christ our wisdom, we adore You for the beauty of the cross.

    Once in foolishness we scorned You, but Your blood has ransomed us.

    Help us sing the endless mercies of Your humble heart to save.

    Christ our wisdom, Christ our glory, You are God, forever praised.

    Help us sing the endless mercies of Your humble heart to save.

    Christ our wisdom, Christ our glory, You are God, forever praised.

    Sharing of the Elements

    We invite to the Lord’s Table all those who are baptized disciples of Jesus Christ and are under the authority of Christ and His body, the Church. By eating the bread and drinking the wine with us as a visitor, you are acknowledging to the elders of this local church that you are in covenant with God and an active member of a congregation in which the gospel is faithfully confessed, taught, and believed. You also acknowledge that you are a sinner, without hope except in the sovereign mercy of God, and that you are trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. If you have any doubt about your participation, please speak to the elders before or after the service.

    Communion Hymn:

    Remembering with Love and Hope

    1. Remembering with love and hope, we celebrate the feast.

    Christ bids us come and dine with him, our Host and great High Priest.

    1. God’s Word made known in flesh and blood, a covenant of grace—

    In manger, cross, and empty tomb, we see God’s loving face.

    1. Through all our lives, Lord, you are near and to the end of time.

    In bread and cup yourself you give; our life in yours we find.

    1. We break the bread and bless the cup; your Spirit is outpoured.

    Made one in you, we feast in love until you come, O Lord.

    1. We trust this pledge of your strong love and pray your kingdom come,

    When face to face we’ll feast with you in our eternal home.
