    Call To Worship

    Scripture Reading:                                                                    Psalm 32

    Blessed Are the Forgiven

    Leader:

    1 Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven,
    whose sin is covered.

    2 Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity,
    and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

    Congregation:

    3 For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away
    through my groaning all day long.

    4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;
    my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer.

    5 I acknowledged my sin to you,
    and I did not cover my iniquity;

       I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
    and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.

    Leader:

    6 Therefore let everyone who is godly
    offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found;

    surely in the rush of great waters,
    they shall not reach him.

    Congregation:

    7 You are a hiding place for me;
    you preserve me from trouble;
    you surround me with shouts of deliverance.

    Leader:

    8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
    I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

    9 Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding,
    which must be curbed with bit and bridle,
    or it will not stay near you.

    Leader and Congregation:

    10 Many are the sorrows of the wicked,
    but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord.

    11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous,
    and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

    Prayer of Invocation

    Declaring What We Believe

    Song: God of the Word

    Out of the babble that surrounds us, out of the chaos that’s within,

    Where can we go to find our meaning? Is there a place we can begin?

    God of the Word, now let the Word be spoken.

    Word of our God, come visit us with grace.

    Rise like a fragrance, like a chord of music, filling all this holy place.

    We Respond to God’s Presence

    O Church, Arise

    O Church, arise, and put your armor on;

    hear the call of Christ our Captain.

    For now the weak can say that they are strong

    in the strength that God has given.

    With a shield of faith and belt of Truth,

    we’ll stand against the devil’s lies;

    And army bold, whose battle cry is love,

    reaching out to those in darkness.

    Our call to war to love the captive soul,

    but to rage against the captor;

    And with the sword that makes the wounded whole,

    we will fight with faith and valor.

    When faced with trials on every side,

    we know the outcome is secure,

    And Christ will have the prize for which He died

    – an inheritance of nations.

    Come see the cross, where love and mercy meet,

    as the Son of God is stricken;

    Then see His foes lie crushed beneath His feet,

    for the Conqueror has risen!

    And as the stone is rolled away

    and Christ emerges from the grave,

    This victory march continues till the day

    every eye and heart shall see Him.

    So Spirit come, put strength in every stride,

    give grace for every hurdle,

    That we may run with faith to win the prize

    of a servant good and faithful.

    As saints of old still line the way,

    retelling triumphs of His grace,

    We hear their calls and hunger for the day

    when with Christ we stand in Glory.

  • Your Hand, O God, Has Guided

    1. Your hand, O God, has guided Your church from age to age;

    The tale of love is written for us on every page.

    Our fathers knew Your goodness and we Your works record;

    And each of these bear witness; One church, one faith, one Lord.

    Refrain:       One church, one faith, one Lord of life;

    One Father, one Spirit, one Christ.

    One church, one faith, one Lord of life;

    One Heavenly King, Lord of all.

    1. Your mercy never fails us, or leaves Your work undone;

    With Your right hand to help us, the victory shall be won.

    And then, by all creation, Your Name shall be adored;

    With earth and Heaven singing: One church, one faith, one Lord.

    Repeat Refrain

    For the Honor of Our King

    Verse 1

    For the honor of our King, every skill we have, we bring:

    No one stirs the heart to sing like our royal Savior.

    Verse 2

    When he speaks, the truth is heard, grace and power in every word:

    Falsehood trembles at the sword of our royal Savior.

    Verse 3

    Righteousness and joy are found, lasting justice will abound,

    All because the King is crowned as our royal Savior.

    Verse 4

    See the splendor of Christ’s bride led in honor to his side—

    Chosen, loved and beautified by her royal Savior.

    Verse 5

    Now, and to eternal days, all God’s people join to raise

    One unending song of praise to our royal Savior

    We Are Called to be God’s People

    1. We are called to be God’s people, showing by our lives His grace,

    One in heart and one in spirit, sign of hope for all the race.

    Let us show how He has changed us and remade us as His own;

    Let us share our life together as we shall around His throne.

    1. We are called to be God’s servants, working in His world today;

    Taking His own task upon us, all His sacred words obey.

    Let us rise, then, to His summons, dedicate to Him our all,

    That we may be faithful servants, quick to answer now His call.

    1. We are called to be God’s prophets, speaking for the truth and right;

    Standing firm for godly justice, bringing evil into light.

    Let us seek the courage needed, our high calling to fulfill,

    That we all may know the blessing of the doing of God’s will.
